In the first article of the module, we explored the basic CSS features available for styling fonts and text. Or SVG containers to represent them, i.e. to represent colored logos, while the traditional (non-colored) font remains as a store for colorless icons. Using any one of the many free and paid for services available, it’s easy to get your emails set up with web fonts. This is extremely important for any business or brand that has a site design that is fully responsive and adapts accordingly to mobile, tablet, and desktop viewing – while also using such image files for printing as well.
The Fonts window displays all the fonts and font families that are installed and available. You install fonts on your PC using the Operating System (eg Windows). The Mac OS can only read font files that are loose in the system font location; it can’t read files inside another folder. Humanist fonts are designed in a way to express warmth and personality of letters as if it were written by a human himself. The legibility of a font depends on all of its design properties and on how it’s used (i.e. line length and line spacing), not only on whether or not it has serifs. The act of converting the font into Shape is to ensure compatibility across multiple computers – when you are working remotely, different fonts installed on different systems may cause the "Font missing" error. If you’re hosting fonts locally, only upload the files for the fonts and the font weights and styles you need. Careful selection of a font should be considered, as some typefaces that are not as well designed as they should be can render poorly in certain email clients.
Vector graphics can be resized numerously without losing quality. You’ll see an increased difference in what we call the modulation of the typefaces.
